I am the founder and I make the calls. But the thing about that kind of power is that you need to have the right info to have a better chance to make the right call. And to do that, you need to talk to your people, ask them questions, get perspectives. Then make the call.

How dare the founder and visionary make the calls in his own company. Lot of people in engineering are getting wake up calls and frankly it's great. Do you know how many times leaders in my job came into my work and was like "actually we think we should go this route instead"

Gunship Origins isn't the first game I've built. BUBBLES.BAS was one of the first triple-A quality games to come out of my 486 DX QBasic career in the 90s. The only game (of hundreds) that I made as a teenager that I still have the source code for!
