Architecture

8-Layer System

  • Foundation: Infrastructure and observability — public cloud, private cloud, on-prem, air-gapped
  • Integration: Central hub for all business data exchange (all data flows through here)
  • Cognition: AI/ML, analytics, and real-time intelligence processing
  • Conversation: Natural language processing, chatbots, and AI interactions
  • Vision: Computer vision, image recognition, visual perception
  • Audition: Audio processing, speech recognition, acoustic perception
  • Interaction: Dashboards, visualization, monitoring, and external interfaces
  • Stabilization: System health monitoring and performance optimization across all layers

Component Model

Plasma uses two parallel three-layer patterns:

Event-Driven Components

Function (computation) → Skill (configuration) → Agent (orchestration)

  • Functions: Universal computational units (e.g., washer)
  • Skills: Configured functions for specific use cases (e.g., car-wash, hand-wash)
  • Agents: Event- or schedule-triggered execution; an agent embeds its trigger and selects a skill from its repertoire (e.g., "wash the car when it returns from the countryside")

Application Components (Infrastructure)

Software (computation) → Service (configuration) → Application (orchestration)

  • Softwares: Core programs (e.g., Postgres, Grafana)
  • Services: Configured deployments (e.g., dashboards_postgres, dashboards_grafana)
  • Applications: Orchestrated business capabilities (e.g., dashboards app)
