Yale alumni restaurateurs have raised $5M to save several New York Chinese takeout restaurants by modernizing their operations and branding.

Restaurant chain Junzi Kitchen was co-founded by three Yale graduate alumni — Yong Zhao FES ’08 PhD ’15, Wanting Zhang FES ’11, and Ming Bai ART ’13. The New Haven location was launched in 2015, incubated by the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute. Junzi now has three locations in Manhattan.

A pop-up at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library offers two views of Thanksgiving: George Washington’s holiday proclamation in 1789, and the 1996 writings of Native American storyteller Joseph Bruchac on Native peoples’ festivals of thanksgiving.

The display on view now through Dec. 3. The Beinecke is free and open to the public. See the website for hours.

Words from George Washington, in 1789, and Joseph Bruchac, in 1996, offer two quite different views of Thanksgiving, as seen in a pop-up display on view now through December 3, 2019. Please note: the exhibition hall is closed on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29.
