SLOAN'S LAKE PARK
Home to the Manhattan Beach amusement park in the 1890s, Sloan's Lake has been a popular entertainment area for over 125 years. Situated between Sheridan Boulevard and Meade Street and between 17th and 26th Avenues, the former 1866 homestead and farm of Thomas F. Sloan was purchased by the city in 1906. In 1874, a 35-cent horse-drawn trolley ride took Denverites to the Cheltenham Heights boat dock for a cruise through a canal to and around Sloan's Lake in Colorados only steamship. Todays water-lovers thrive instead on summer recreational boating and water skiing. |
