Nancy R. Heinen

Nancy Heinen joins Apple Computer, Inc. as Senior Vice President and General Counsel and Secretary. She serves as the Company's Legal Officer and is responsible for overseeing legal matters for Apple.

Heinen was previously Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at NeXT Software, Inc. where she managed all legal matters and was a member of the senior management team and Secretary to the Board of Directors. During her tenure at NeXT, Heinen served as the first in-house lawyer and went on to manage a four member legal team. She was also responsible for preparing NeXT for its planned initial public offering and was counsel for NeXT in its acquisition by Apple.

Before her work at NeXT, Heinen served as Group Counsel and Assistant Secretary at Tandem Computers Incorporated where she managed legal affairs for various operating divisions and was Assistant Secretary advising the Board of Directors and preparing SEC disclosure documents. Previously, Heinen was in private law practice in San Francisco and Palo Alto.

Heinen received an A.B. with honors in Psychology and English from the University of California at Berkeley and holds a J.D. from the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley.
